Palo Alto’s 66th Annual Palo Alto Judo Invitational

November 9, 2019 - November 10, 2019

IMPORTANT UPDATE: (11/08/2019)

As you may known seen since Palo Alto got approved as a National Testing and Evaluation site over four months ago, the Central Coast Yudanshakai and Palo Alto Judo Club are delighted to welcome you to Palo Alto’s 66th Annual Palo Alto Judo Invitational on Saturday November 9th (Referees and Officials Clinic in the afternoon) and Sunday November 10th (tournament all-day).

I hope you could please add the 66th Annual Palo Alto Judo Invitational to Nanka’s calendar and any other appropriate calendars.  We would love to see as many competitors as possible from Southern California.  Please see below a selection of the most affordable nearby hotels, which any athletes or referees and coaches should book at the earliest possible chance as this area fills up quickly.

The tournament is rated as an N1 event by USA Judo, so all levels A-N1 are exceedingly welcome.  Those coming to referee please remember to register at http://judoreferee.com   Tournament planning will be partially based on how many refs register in advance, so it will be a great kindness if you let us know in advance advance.

We have a great team leading us:  Chief Referee Gary Takemoto and Examiners Greg Moore and Dan Israel.  We will have at least four 8×8 contest areas and so this this will be an excellent friendly venue to get lots of practice before Winter Nationals and the President’s Cup.

CENCO is again sponsoring the Clinic and, like last year, testing will be offered for those aspiring to become USA Judo National Referees, as well as experienced local referees aspiring to become Regional Refs.  If you are bringing any candidates for National Testing or for Regional Certification please let Cal Sensei and myself know so we can be sure to have enough tests of both kinds.

Exact details for Referees and test takers will be posted in CENCO’s calendar pages for November 9th and 10th: https://cencojudo.com/calendar/

Same for competitors and their registration packet, soon to be available here: https://cencojudo.com/calendar/

New location:  In order to have enough space for 8×8 contest areas we are moving the tournament to the main gym at Foothill College  (12345 El Monte Rd, Los Altos Hills, CA 94022).

The location for the Clinic will also be at Foothill College.

PLEASE BOOK YOUR HOTEL WELL IN ADVANCE.  Hotels get filled up fast in this part of Silicon Valley.  We suggest any one of these:

Closest by hotels are in Mountain View (though many others are available in Los Altos and Palo Alto):
